Fondée par l’artiste multidisciplinaire et idéateur, Gérard-Charles Valente, NW International a pour mission d’accompagner la création, la recherche et la production d’œuvres originales à l’international. Nos champs d’intérêt et d’intervention en art touchent tous les secteurs d’expression, selon les projets en développement.

Actuellement, nous nous concentrons sur notre dernière création : Play and Play Black, cosignée avec la performeuse Mireille Bergeron. Cette production est dédiée au maître de butô, Yoshito Ohno, avec qui nous avons suivi une classe de maître privée, à Yokohama.

Un film de cette production a été réalisé, en novembre dernier, à Montréal (Québec/Canada), par Christine Lavoie-Gagnon et Michel St-Martin, à la direction photo. Tous deux ont travaillé au Japon, notamment avec le cinéaste Claude Gagnon (Karakara, Kamataki…) et Christine a remporté plusieurs prix pour son dernier court-métrage : Confinés, dont un aux « Independent Shorts Awards » de Los Angeles, en 2020.

Nous avons eu l’occasion de projeter le film suivi d’un sympathique « sharing talking », lors d’une présentation privée, le 18 avril dernier, dans les espaces d’Investissement Québec, à Montréal.

À Yokohama, nous avons eu l’opportunité de présenter le film à Etsuko Ohno, metteuse en scène, grande spécialiste du butô et veuve du maître de butô Yoshito Ohno, au Kazuo Ohno Dance Studio (KODS), le 31 mai dernier. C’est avec beaucoup d’émotion et de joie que nous nous sommes retrouvés au KODS. Nous tenons aussi à remercier Yuki Kuyama de la Délégation générale du Québec à Tokyo pour ses précieux conseils. Nous aurons d’ailleurs l’opportunité de la revoir, mais cette fois-ci à Montréal, lors de la Biennale CINARS 2024 à laquelle nous participerons en novembre.

We had the pleasure to screen the film, followed by a friendly sharing talking during a private presentation on April 18 in the Investissement Québec‘s spaces in Montreal.

In Yokohama, on May 31, we had the opportunity to present the film to Etsuko Ohno, director, great butoh specialist and widow of butoh master Yoshito Ohno, at the Kazuo Ohno Dance Studio (KODS). It was with great emotion and joy that we met again at the KODS.
